iodoform

Iodoform (molecular formula CHI3) is a yellow, saffron-smelling chemical compound of carbon, hydrogen and iodine and a simple halogenated hydrocarbon.

Because of its structure (CHX3), it is homologous to fluoroform, chloroform and bromoform and is called analog.

According to Fieser & Fieser, iodoform, along with tetraiodomethane, is the only colored organic compound without an unsaturated structural element.
