The interchangeable filters serve as a barrier against ingress of liquids and noxious vapours and thus protect the inside of the pipette, e.g. against radioactive, biologically hazardous or corrosive samples, as well as protection against cross-contamination. The Safe-Cone filters should be replaced at regular intervals (after 50-250 pipetting sessions) or immediately in the event of overpipping.
